Code of conduct.
When you use PM Online, you’re agreeing to follow these rules which help to keep everyone safe and happy.
Overview
PanasMcInnes.com (the ‘Website’) allows members of the public to sign up to have accounts in a specific area of our website (‘PM Online’ or the ‘Service’). When you choose to open an account with us, in addition to this Website’s Terms & Conditions of Use and Privacy Policy, you’re also agreeing to abide by this Code of Conduct. Just so you know, this agreement is between PanasMcInnes (‘we’, ‘us’ or ‘our’) and you, the user of this website who is choosing to sign up to our PM online service (‘you’ or ‘your’).
The purpose of this Code of Conduct is to make sure that PM Online is safe, educational and open to all people, whether they’re a client of ours or not.
Our Code of Conduct is designed to be flexible and fluid, and we’re always happy to listen to feedback and suggestions on how to make PM Online better for everyone. If you have any suggestions which you think would help us achieve this, please contact us here or email hello@panasmcinnes.com.
1 – Overarching principles
PM Online has been set up to allow individuals to share ideas, opinions and thoughts on a number of topics related to the business areas we operate in. This includes things like commenting on articles online or sharing information about your own organisation and initiatives you’re currently engaging in.
In order to make our Service as safe and friendly as possible, we have created a number of overarching principles which everyone needs to abide by and which are consistent with our values.
1.1 – Being yourself
When you sign up, you’ll be asked to provide us with your name and certain other information. We ask that you are honest with your identity so that others in the PM Online community can feel confident that they’re talking to the person they see on their screen.
1.2 –Respect
The world is made better through discussion, and sometimes that can be uncomfortable or close to the mark. However, we don’t want anyone to ever feel like they’re “less than” or not worthy because of someone else’s views. You can’t use language or any other form of communication which harasses or degrades people.
1.3 – Safety
Our community must be safe for everyone at all times. We have a zero tolerance approach to anyone who uses our Service and threatens others, whether those threats are explicit or implied. Threats can be made either to someone’s own physical well-being but also through behaviour which seeks to limit freedom of expression or someone’s ability to participate.
1.4 – Privacy
We’re committed to protecting people’s privacy, and we expect users of this Service to have the same commitment. Communications on PM Online can’t ever include private personal information, whether it belongs to you or someone else, unless we expressly state that it can be shared. We want to take a common sense approach here – for example, we wouldn’t have an issue with someone sharing details of their staff training on brand awareness, but if that also included information the organisation’s strategy and trade secrets, it wouldn’t be acceptable (unless such information was already made public by the organisation itself).
1.5 – How we deal with breaches of these principles
We try to be as objective as possible when dealing with any breaches of these principles and the action we take will depend on the severity of what has happened. Courses of action we might take range from contacting you to discuss any potential breach, through to deleting accounts of individuals who repeatedly breach our Code of Conduct or whose views or behaviour are clearly incompatible with the aims of this Service.
2 – Safety
We don’t allow you to post anything that promotes or encourages self-harm or suicide. It’s important to note that we don’t want to prohibit or censor dialogue about these topics where they’re of an educational nature (for example, through things like World Suicide Prevention Day), but instead prevent people from posting or sharing content which glorifies them or encourages others to participate in them.
Where we’re made aware or identify content which we believe indicates that you might be at risk of harm, we’ll work to support you as far as possible, and point you in the direction of individuals and organisations who can help.
2.1 – Self-harm and suicide
In order to provide a safe environment for all, we moderate content that’s posted online and prevent you from posting certain material which we deem to be threatening to your or someone else’s safety.
2.2 – Bullying
We don’t tolerate bullying of any kind on PM Online. Bullying can take many forms, including threatening or abusive language or releasing personal information.
We want to distinguish between bullying and critique. Critique involves commenting on something in a way that is primarily meant to initiate conversation or dialogue, or help to improve. We believe that critique is incredibly important and helps all of us become better people. However, when such critique becomes threatening or “mean”, we’ll intervene to stop it.
If you feel as though you’re being bullied on our forums, please contact us and we’ll do everything we can to stop it. If you see another individual being bullied, please report it to us, so that we can investigate it and make contact with the individuals concerned.
2.3 – Children
We don’t design any of our services for individuals under the age of 18 and we’ll terminate the accounts of people if we learn that they are under this age.
Under no circumstances should content be posted which exploits or endangers children. Where we become aware of content which might be exploiting or endangering children, we’ll report it to the appropriate authorities.
2.4 – Sexual exploitation and violence
This service can’t be used to exploit adults in any way, including sexually. We don’t tolerate any material which shows nudity or sexual acts, and we’ll remove it as soon as we become aware of it. Individuals who post content like this will have their accounts terminated.
We also won’t tolerate any content which promotes, glorifies, encourages or coordinates sexual violence against another individual or individuals. Again, this doesn’t mean that we want to censor legitimate discussion about this topic, or that we want survivors and victims to feel as though they can’t be open about their experiences, but this should happen only if they are comfortable.
We’ll remove any material which exploits individuals sexually or promoted violent sexual acts, and we’ll report it to the authorities.
2.5 – Personal information
We take our commitments to keeping our clients’ and users’ data secure seriously, and we detail how we do this in our privacy policy. You should make sure that when you’re using this Service, you don’t reveal sensitive personal information. This includes things like National Identification and Social Security numbers, passport numbers and bank and credit card details.
3 - Violence & crime
We don’t allow any content to be posted which facilitates, encourages or condones violent behaviour. We’ll report all content to the authorities, particularly where we believe that there’s a genuine risk of harm.
3.1 – Coordinating crime
Our Service can’t ever be used to coordinate criminal activity. We support the rights of people to debate such behaviour, but will always take action to remove any content which we believe threatens another person in any way.
3.2 – Dangerous organisations
We don’t allow any organisation or individual to use our service if their intent is to promote a violent mission, beliefs or ideology, or actions. This includes organisations like terrorist groups, organised hate groups, gangs or individuals who are associated with these groups.
3.3 – Fraud
We won’t allow anyone to deceive other people who use this Service, for personal or monetary gain, or otherwise. Any content which tries to deliberately deceive others will be removed.
4 - Content
We allow you to contribute to, and engage with this Service in a number of ways, and we’re happy to facilitate healthy debate. However, there is some content which we never allow and which you should never post.
4.1 – Hate speech
We believe that differences should be celebrated and they make the world a better place. Any content which seeks to stifle or prevent people from being who they are or want to be is incompatible with our fundamental values, and as such we don’t allow it on this Service.
We define hate speech as anything which directly attacks or intimidates an individual’s core characteristics or personality. This includes things like race, ethnicity, religion, gender and sexuality, and disease and disability.
Anything that attacks an individual’s core characteristics (whether that’s by demeaning them, seeking to exclude or segregate them or being violent or dehumanising in tone) won’t be tolerated and will be removed.
Anything which promotes hate speech will also be removed, although we might allow it to continue to appear where the intent is clearly to encourage debate or raise awareness of an issue in society. We might also allow it where the intention is clearly humorous or commenting on the issue rather than supporting it.
4.2 – Nudity
We don’t allow nudity on our website where there’s a clearly sexual undertone in its presentation. However, we don’t object to images which depict nude figures in art, for the purposes of protest or to raise awareness about issues of importance, such as breastfeeding in public. Any material that’s clearly pornographic or depicts sexual activity isn’t allowed on PM Online.
4.3 – Graphic violent content
Anything which depicts acts of violence or harm towards any living being (including people and animals), or which celebrates or glorifies violence and suffering of a living being will be removed.
4.4 – Solicitation and sexual encounters
PM Online isn’t an appropriate place to discuss or arrange sexual encounters, even if they’re consensual. We will remove any content which promotes or facilitates sexual encounters, and where we believe that the encounter may have criminal undertones (for example, arranging sexual encounters with a child), report it to the authorities.
4.5 – Cruelty
We won’t tolerate any content which seeks to mock or demean someone who has been a victim of physical or emotional harm. Such content will be removed.
4.6 – Spam
We don’t allow individuals to post content which persistently targets or promotes products and services to other users in an automated way, or which seeks to get people to visit websites which might be malicious or have deceitful intentions.
4.7 – Respecting Intellectual Property (‘IP’)
PanasMcinnes works to help our clients create original and creative material, and as such we work hard to protect IP not only generated by us, but by other organisations, including our competitors. We respect the amount of work that goes into creating material and we expect users of this Service to have the same respect. This means that where you use or promote content, you are legally permitted to do so, and you have the appropriate rights under law.
You aren’t permitted to post any content which violates another entity’s IP rights. This includes using a company’s logo, artwork or any other imagery or illustration (whether trademarked or not) or using any other material which has been copyrighted, without permission.
5 - Your privacy
We respect your privacy, and we'll do all that we can to protect it. If you've got queries related to how we handle your personal data, you might want to take a look at our privacy policy.
5.1 – Deleting your account
If you want to delete your account, you can do so by contacting us. We will disable your account and remove your data from our systems.
5.2 – Forgotten passwords
If you forget your password, you can reset it by requesting a password reset link through the login page. Alternatively, you can contact us. Please note that we can only send password reset links to the registered email address on the account
5.3 – Recovering lost or hacked accounts
If someone has gained access to your account and you can’t get into it, you should contact us. Once we have verified your identity, we’ll help you regain access to your account.
